I’m enjoying teaching simple skills in this Blog series of tutorials but I realise that many skaters are lacking some basics due to not having had formal instruction before. So here is a video tutorial not on an actual skill but on a fundamental basic concept of steering quads skates.
Inline skates use leaning and edges to co around corner. Quads skates keep all 4 wheels on the ground while cornering and pressure is applied through the bent support knee and then right or left slightly depending on where you want to go. This is often misunderstood by quads skaters and Roller Derby players who then try to steer using their toes or hips It s the knees that are responsible for steering, always. I hope this video helps explain why.
