Paris October 2016

Paris Skate Trip

7th – 9th October 2016 – Sorry, this trip is now completely full.

This year Skatefresh will be returning to Paris (after several years break) to skate the famous Friday Night “Pari-Roller” street skate and enjoy a weekend of skate touring and classes in one of the world’s most skateable cities. The “unbelievably smooth” streets of Paris form the backdrop to the weekend and the Paris street skates can have thousands of skaters participating each week!

Booking Process

Before making any travel or hotel bookings you will need to apply to come on the trip and Asha will need to assess your skating ability to ensure you have the minimum skills needed to deal with the weekend trip (Paris has slopes and cobbles and you will need adequate skills to deal with the terrain although generally Paris is easier than London to skate around). If Asha knows you already then this is a quick process. If you haven’t skated with Asha before then she will send you a series of questions to answer about your skating and perhaps even ask for a short video. Once you have been approved you can then go ahead and make your travel and accommodation plans.

The Friday Night Skate in Paris is pretty fast (comparable to London’s Wednesday night Skate www.londonskate.com) – although in Paris it is often longer! The Sunday afternoon street skate in Paris is usually always longer than London’s Sunday Stroll.

It is possible to come to Paris with us and NOT skate the FNS if your street skating experience is limited, so let us know when you apply if you are wanting to do the FNS or just join us for the Saturday and Sunday skates.

Please email Trish at bookings@skatefresh.com to reserve your place.

Travel

Due to ever changing Eurostar prices, we leave the booking of your travel up to you, so the sooner you book the cheaper your fare will be.

Tickets for October are already on sale and continue to go up in price as we get closer to the dates. We recommend hotels in Paris in the Montparnasse area as Friday and Saturday meeting points are Montparnasse. We leave you to make your own hotel reservations. Asha will be staying with friends in Paris.

Itinerary

The Skatefresh package includes up to 14 hours of guided skating and lesson time with instruction from Asha in Paris over the weekend including the Pari-Roller FNS, lessons and sightseeing on the Saturday and lessons and street skate on Sunday. The only choice you need to make is if you want to participate in the faster FNS, or not.

Friday 7th October

Friday 10pm –1am Paris Roller street skate.

Meet at 9.15pm (for 10pm departure) outside Montparnasse Railway Station in the pedestrianised square area outside the main station doors. With the station behind you and Montparnasse tower in front of you, aim for the left side of the square. We can slowly kit up together and be ready for 10pm departure.

Saturday 8th October

10.30am meet at Montparnasse again, same place as Friday night. Our skating sightseeing tour takes us past many of the city’s main sites and buildings; Jardin du Luxembourg, the Pantheon, the Sorbonne, Saint-Michel, the river, Notre-Dame, Ile de la Cite, Ile Saint-Louise, Bastille, Place des Vosges, Le Marais, Pompidou Centre, the Louvre, Palais Royale, Place de la Concorde, Esplanade des Invalides, the Eiffel Tower, Trocadero, Arc de Triomphe and finally we end the day skating down the Champs-Elysees.

We will have two main stops during the tour for lesson time, at Palais Royale and then again at Invalides. Depending on the weather and temperature we will either picnic lunch at Place des Vosges or choose restaurants near Pompidou.

Saturday evening (approx 8.30pm) An optional group evening meal in a lovely small local restaurant near Place D’Italie is planned. You will need to let us know the week before the trip if you would like to be included in this meal so we can reserve for the group. You will pay for what you consume, no set menu.

Sunday 9th October

There is optional Lesson time from 11.30am – 1.30pm on the right bank quay (closed to traffic on Sundays). Exact meeting point to be arranged.

Then we meet for the Sunday afternoon street skate outside the skate shop Nomades at Bastille at 2pm. The skate leaves at 2.30pm and we can eat lunch in a cafe nearby between the lesson and street skate. The Sunday skate is a slower and smaller skate, but very relaxing after Friday night and Saturday. We do not know the routes yet but will inform you as soon as they are made public.
