Copenhagen July 2016

Copenhagen Skate Trip 29-31 July 2016

copenhagenTHIS TRIP IS NOW FULL but if you would like to be  on the Waiting List we will let you know as soon as  possible if a place becomes available.

As usual with Skatefresh European trips, this year’s skating weekend in Copenhagen begins with the city’s Friday Night Skate departing 8pm from Solbjerg Plads. The Frederiksberg Street metro stop is very close to the meeting place (Lines M1 and M2). The fortnightly policed skate boasts 700+ in summer so it beats London in numbers (and I’m betting the surfaces are an improvement)….

On Saturday 30th July we skate from the city centre to the countryside on fabulous cycle paths. Copenhagen has a higher percentage of roads with cycle paths than any other city in Europe. The exact route and direction are being detailed in collaboration with local marshals, as I write this.

An optional Saturday night group dinner is also planned after our all day skate.

Sunday 31st July we skate the City Tour seeing all the sites and getting a feel for downtown as well as other neighbourhoods. The skating will finish at 4pm on Sunday so you are free to catch evening flights home. You can leave earlier during Sunday if you need to.

You are responsible for booking your own flights and accommodation while in Copenhagen. Asha will be staying at the following hotel:  Hotel Carlton Guldsmeden, Vesterbrogade 66, 1620 Copenhagen  Tel: +45 33221500 (£183 single for 2 nights B&B). We would recommend that you look for accommodation in the Vesterbro region of the city as our meeting place for the Saturday and Sunday skate days will be in or near Tivoli Gardens, across the road from the main railway station. Some suggested hotels are listed below.

Cost of the trip is as follows: £100 for skaters who have not been on a previous Skatefresh trip or £90 for our regular skaters. Local transport costs and airport transfers are not included. Fees  must be paid by 30th April.

To join this Skatefresh trip you will need to apply first by sending an email of interest to Bookings@skatefresh.com. If Asha already knows you from classes or previous trips then she can assess if your level is adequate for the skating we will be doing on the trip. If she has never seen you skate then you will be asked to submit a video in order to show your current level (including speed, stops and turns). Obviously progress is possible and expected between now and July, but if skaters cannot keep a medium cruising speed and stop well with that speed and on slopes, Asha can recommend a course of training to help you reach the necessary minimum level required of all skaters.
