Join Asha for an unforgettable weekend of skating, touring and lesson time in Berlin and surrounds.
This compact weekend of skating in and around Berlin will provide you with hugely varied skating environments and a chance to see this fascinating city from many angles.
Friday 19th July
The trip starts on Friday evening 19th July hopefully with the Berlin Friday Night Skate (FNS). There is an unofficial FNS every two weeks in the summer months. Our trip dates are fixed but I am confident about persuading the Berlin skaters to sync with our trip so we can enjoy the city with the skaters who know it best.
Saturday 20th July
On Saturday 20th July we head south of Berlin by train to the skaters’ paradise that is Flaeming Skate; the first and largest rural skate park in Europe with over 115km of specially designed skate and cycle paths.
The network of paths passes through beautiful countryside, farmland, villages and forests providing a super smooth (love that German design) environment to practice your stride and speed skating, improve your stamina and perfect your backwards skating. The calmness and quiet of the park is a stark contrast to the usual hectic urban skaters’ environment. We will skate a circuit of about 35-40km (with the possibility of doing less or adding more depending on how you feel on the day). There are plenty of opportunities for lesson time and help with your stride, glide, recovery and arm swing throughout the day.
Before we leave the town of Flaeming you can buy snacks and water. We stop for lunch in a typical country pub (with beer garden) where skaters are welcome. We return to Berlin by train after completing the tour.

An optional dinner out with Asha (and Skatefresh crew) in Berlin is planned for Saturday evening. More details about menus and cost nearer the time.
Sunday 21st July
On Sunday 21st July we explore the city of Berlin and visit the Berlin Wall (or what’s left of it!), the Brandenburg Gate, the Holocaust Memorial, Check Point Charlie, Berlin Cathedral, several parks and the Island of Museums, giving you a real feel for the city and its diversity. Ice cream stops and photo shoots along the way will leave you with great memories. We stop for lunch at a place with lots of restaurant options. We finish skating by 4pm to allow you to get a flight home that evening if necessary.
Meeting point: Alexanderplatz. Time to be confirmed.
Deposit to confirm acceptance of your place: £50
Balance of £100 due by 19th May 2019
How To Book
To book your place please contact Trish: firstname.lastname@example.org If we don’t know your skating level we will send you a questionnaire to complete and Asha may require a video of your skating to be sure you have the skills needed to keep up with the group.
Travel and Accommodation
You are responsible for organising your own transport to and from Berlin, your train ticket to Flaeming and your accommodation and meals. The sooner you buy your flights and book your accommodation, the cheaper they will both be. Saturday meeting point t.b.a. Probably the best area for accommodation will be north-west of city centre.
