Join Asha in BARCELONA, her favourite European Skating City, for Skatefresh’s 2018 Summer Skate Trip from 1st – 3rd June 2018 and get to know this fabulous city from the freedom of your skates.
You can see so much more of a city when you are rolling, all the major tourist sights as well as different neighbourhoods, as you will get a more authentic feel for the city.

Barcelona is one of THE MOST skateable cities in Europe with a hugely vibrant skate scene and of course some lovely tarmac. Barcelona has more active skate instructors and street skates than possibly any city in the world. It’s a happening place if you have wheels.

Friday 1st June

We kick off the trip by joining Barcelona’s popular Friday Night Skate (which leaves at 22:00 so please arrive in order to meet up by 21:30). It is always thrilling to join the local skate crowds around their city and to see it buzzing on a Friday night.
Barcelona is THE Street Skating City with street skates almost every night of the week.
The speed of their FNS is similar to London’s Wednesday night skate (faster than Sunday Stroll but slower than FNS). You need to have been street skating regularly if you want to join this part of the Trip. This street skate is not suitable for beginner street skaters because parts of Barcelona are built on the side of a mountain and hills and slopes are common.

The meeting point for the FNS is as follows:  Marador a prop de Escola Bresol, Vila Olimpica, Carrer de Salvador Espria, 09005 Barcelona.

Saturday 2nd June

The weekend continues with a sightseeing tour on skates where we will see the major sites; Sagrada Familia, almost the entire Avenida Diagonal (which means slightly downhill all day long), Plaza Cataluña, Plaza d’España, Some of Gaudi’s famous houses and several different neighbourhoods. Saturday’s skate will end with a beach promenade skate where we will then hit the beach for a swim and a drink at the end of the day (the perfect finale to a day on skates).

Sunday 3rd June

On the final day we discover the central areas of the city and skate the famous Las Ramblas and the Gothic quarter and tackle the mountain of Montjuic.
We finish at 4pm so there is enough time to get flights home that evening. Please note unlike other Skatefresh weekend trips there is no rural/countryside skating in this weekend. The city is too good for that!

There is some lesson time built into the tours on both days.

Meeting Point for Saturday and Sunday skate tours:  Plaza Cataluna.

Cost

The skating part of the trip costs £140 per person and includes tours, skate tips while on route and some lesson spots during the weekend.

How to apply

You need to apply to come on a Skatefresh Trip as we need to ensure that all skaters participating are of adequate skating ability to safely navigate the weekend.

  • If you are from London we need you to be able to keep up with London’s Wednesday Night Skate speed.
  • If you are new to Skatefresh trips you’ll need to send us a short video showing your normal skating speed for 20m and then doing any stop of your choice (to a stand still).
  • Once approved, we will contact you, asking you to pay a deposit of £50 to secure your place on the trip.

Please note: Your place on the trip cannot be held until we receive your deposit. Places for this trip are limited and bookings will be accepted on a first come first served basis.

Please DO NOT make travel plans or book accommodation until you have been officially accepted onto the Trip.

Please fill in the form below to apply.

Information You May Find Useful

Accommodation

Asha will be staying with friends for the weekend and you are free to make your own hotel reservations, but also check out Airbnb which is very popular in Barcelona. We start both skate days at Plaza Cataluña which is very central and close to several metro stations. Taxis in Barcelona are plentiful and relatively inexpensive. There is also a metro in Barcelona which is fast and quite small so it doesn’t take a long time to get around.

The following hotel is close to Plaza Cataluña which will be our Meeting Point on both days and some of the Skatefresh trippers may stay there.
