Myria Kyriacou on skating with a Skatefresh instructor and rolling in Greenwich:
“My first lesson with Matt seems like a long time ago now. We were in Hyde Park, and Bambi on skates would have been more coordinated than I was at the time. By the end of that lesson though, and to a chorus of “scissor!” and “bend your knees, NO, bend your knees more!” I felt much more confident on my shiny new blades! Since then we’ve skated at the Albert Memorial, done some solo street skating lessons, and Matt even took me on my first Sunday Stroll! Turns out, skating is waaaaaaaay fun! :) Through a series of “No way, I can’t do it, it’s impossible!” moments, Matt helped me to be a pretty good skater! Lately we’ve migrated to Greenwich Park, scene of my latest efforts to skate backwards, do edge stops and generally look cooler on skates. Let me tell you; it’s a great place to skate (and I travel from north London to get there)! The park is beautiful, it’s quieter than Hyde, and you really can’t beat the view! To top it all off, once you’ve mastered your latest fancy skate move, you can relax at the tea room with a cuppa… and maybe some cake… well surely you’ve earned the calories after all that skating?!”
