Phil – Level 1 Instructor

Book a lesson with Phil online

philHi! My name is Phil Wildman, but don’t worry, despite the name I don’t bite!

I teach in and around the City of London around work hours, and Hyde Park the rest of the time (but can arrange to travel anywhere in London z1-6 depending on your requirements). If you book a lesson with me in the City I have undercover facilities available so lessons would not be weather dependent and always go ahead when booked.

I like to specialise in getting people ready for the London street skates; and for the more advanced, solo skating (picture a deserted Oxford street at 2am, all to yourself and your skates…..awesome!). But also general skills abilities to get you moving (and to look cool when doing so).

I dabble in Slalom, and sometimes hit the skatepark ramps (occasionally with my face), and enjoy a bit of impromptu street hockey now and then, but my real passion is for StreeetSkating.

phil21I have been able to skate since I was about 12 (I’m now early 20s), and started street skating back in 2001 just as they were launching the London StreetSkates. Back then I still lived at home and only made it down a few times a year, but now I live and work in and around London. So since early 2008 I have been out most nights, and am loving it! I now Marshall for Sundays and Wednesdays, (keeping Fridays as my “sociable” skate), and for me nothing beats the rush of skating solo through traffic, having to physically restrain wayward taxis at a moments notice. When you are out on the front line, you learn to improve your skills pretty quickly!

phil1I prefer a more informal and personal approach to my teaching, as I believe if you are not relaxed and having fun, you are not learning! And have plenty of fun games up my sleeve to help you get the most out of my lessons.

I joined Skatefresh in June 2009, after having passed my ICP1, and knew it was a great decision. They offer such fantastic support to each other and we are always sharing tips. This means when you choose a Skatefresh instructor, you are not just getting one person, but the combined experience of all of us. And I am glad to be a part of it.

I am often out and about, so if you ever see me tarting in Hyde Park, unwinding at the Vic, or enjoying the StreetSkates, please come and say hi!
