SkateSchool – Beginners

Where? East end of Serpentine Road, Hyde Park.
When? Saturday 4th September,  12.00pm – 02.00pm
How much? £75

We don’t run 3 week courses in August due to holiday commitments and we recommend you begin skating with our Half Day Beginners class. (next dates: 7th August, 28th August)

Learn to skate right from the start, beginning with safety, basic skating and of course, efficient stopping. You will soon progress onto turning, speed and fitness skating and dealing with slopes, downhill and emergency stops. This is the perfect course to get you going safely and give you plenty to practice your skating.

All group classes take place in Hyde Park unless it is raining, in which case we move to Westway Sports Centre (at no extra charge) where we skate under cover. The courses therefore always happens on the set dates (as long as minimum course numbers are met).

If you have completed our Half Day Beginners skate class then we recommend you complete the beginners syllabus by doing weeks 2 and 3 of any Beginner course.

When you have completed this 3 week Beginner SkateSchool course the next logical step is…

You will need
1. Skates (recreational skates with a heel brake). Please do not come to class wearing old style plastic skates with buckles and wheels that don’t roll. If you have these skates please hire another pair and bring them with you, as plastic skates are not designed to roll!
2. Padding (knee and wrist) – helmets are optional but recommended.
3. To be padded up and ready to skate by the beginning of the class time (this takes usually 10-15 minutes and is not part of the lesson).

“The course was fantastic. I can’t believe that I have learned so much in such a relatively short time. Having never been on inline skates before the course, I imagine it would have taken months, if not years, to get to where I am already, (and it probably would have been a lot more painful on my own!). I can, without a shadow of doubt, say that this is the best thing I’ve done in a long time.” Paul

If you have to miss a lesson in your 3 week course then it is your responsibility to have a ‘catch up’ private lesson before your next class. Ideally do this with one of the instructors teaching your course and call them directly to organise this. If you fail to do this you will not be able to ‘transfer’ your remaining course fees onto other classes.
